Results show how directors, professors, representatives and students live the process differently. The fear for reconstructing a new identity, the desire for recovering the school’s ethos as well as professors, representatives, new and older student’s conflicts were observed, apart from the search for the conciliation between the modern world demands and the educational project. Este artículo presenta una investigación cualitativa realizada en una escuela municipal artística de la zona sur de Chile. Se describe e interpreta el proceso de cambio educacional vivido por dicha institución, a partir del crecimiento y la estabilidad de la escuela, producto de la adquisición de infraestructura nueva y definitiva.  Los resultados indican que tanto directivos, como profesores, apoderados y alumnos vivencian el proceso de manera divergente.  Se observó temor de reconstruir una nueva identidad, deseo de recuperar el ethos de la escuela, conflicto entre profesores, apoderados y estudiantes nuevos y antiguos, y búsqueda de conciliación entre las exigencias del mundo moderno y el proyecto educativo.
