Therefore, the migration as the thematic axis and following the guidelines of comparative history, it is shown that both in California and in Baja California, migration flows have played a fundamental role. The comparative approach also leads to the search for similarities and differences represented in different moments, such as the impact of "Prohibition", the Great Depression and two World Wars, or specific phenomena as the arrival of the railroad. But above all, the common thread is migration with its two key issues mentioned above, the origin of migration flows and labor relations that they have generated in the two Californias. El objetivo de este documento es analizar los procesos de la migración en dos entidades vecinas, California y Baja California, señalando sus características, la procedencia de los flujos migratorios y el tipo de relaciones laborales generadas a partir de este fenómeno. Por ello, con la migración como eje temático y siguiendo las pautas de la historia comparativa, se constata que tanto en California como en Baja California los flujos migratorios han desempeñado un papel fundamental. El enfoque comparativo lleva también a la búsqueda de similitudes y diferencias en etapas y coyunturas clave, como el impacto de la Ley Seca, la Gran Depresión y las dos guerras mundiales, o bien fenómenos específicos como la llegada del ferrocarril.
