Description
Summary:California Polytechnic State University has carried out archeological studies in Mission Antonio de Padua, located in Monterrey County, California. The archeological potential of this site has made it useful in designing research plans for teaching anthropology students. This  article  describes in  detail  the  characteristics of  the  residences   and  other buildings that  make up the mission, as well as the business and domestic activities that took  place in each. During  excavation, it  was  possible  to observe  how  the different stages  of construction at the mission show  the degrees  of influence and merging of the materials and techniques introduced by the missionaries, with forms  and functions that  were a contribution of the  native people, producing  a series of artifacts that reflect a Spanish-Mexican-Indian cultural syncretism.
