The parent-recruit relationship can be established from the correspondence between the adult stock and the one-year-old juveniles and was analyzed as a random variable with normal distribution; it shows anomalies with a sinusoid pattern. Estimates of potential yield show that current yields are below the biologic maximum sustainable yield and economic maximum sustainable yield levels. Se analiza la pesquería de abulón azul en la zona de Bahía Asunción, Baja California Sur (México), a través de un modelo de simulación que considera la estructura por edades de la población. Se utilizó información sobre captura, esfuerzo, estimaciones de abundancia, así como la de parámetros de la dinámica poblacional del abulón (k, L∞, to, a y b de la relación peso-longitud, edad de primera captura y longevidad). Adicionalmente, se estimó la relación parentela-progenie incluyendo incertidumbre. El modelo presentó un ajuste adecuado entre la biomasa pescable estimada y las estimaciones independientes de la pesquería. Se determinó el rendimiento potencial de esta pesquería, observándose que las capturas actuales se encuentran por debajo del rendimiento máximo sostenible biológico y económico a largo plazo. El reclutamiento anual presenta desviaciones con anomalías que describen un patrón sinusoidal.
