Indeed, the central objective of this article is to think the relation established between desert and culture, from a theoretical–conceptual perspective and to contribute, in this way, to the construction of a general frame that can be useful for other empiricist researches about the cultural identity in Mexicali and its agricultural valley. De manera recursiva el territorio geográfico desértico y la cultura de los habitantes de la zona fronteriza que ocupa Mexicali y su valle agrícola se han ido transformando y con ello han generado una serie de rasgos culturales que han contribuido a la construcción de una identidad regional con anclajes en lo desértico. Precisamente, este artículo tiene como objetivo principal pensar la relación establecida entre desierto y cultura desde una perspectiva teórico–conceptual y aportar con ello a la construcción de un marco general que pueda ser de utilidad para investigaciones de corte empírico acerca de la identidad cultural en Mexicali y su valle.
