Active members of this Indian community gave us qualitative information. In this paper we present some social representations that the kumiai indians made from its natural resources, correlating the quantitative data available from sciences like Biology and Geography with the qualitative information offered by the social actors interviewed. Entre el 29 de junio y el 4 de julio de 2009, en compañía de los investigadores Everardo Garduño y Eva Caccavari Garza, participamos en la recolección de datos cuantitativos y cualitativos para el proyecto “Sitios sagrados kumiai”, de la Comisión Nacional para el Desarrollo de los Pueblos Indígenas, que auspició esta investigación. Integrantes de la comunidad indígena kumiai1 participaron en las entrevistas realizadas. En este texto presentamos una descripción de algunas representaciones sociales que los kumiai hacen de sus recursos naturales, mediante una correlación de la información cuantitativa biológica y geográfica con la información cualitativa aportada por los actores sociales entrevistados.
