We believe that, although it is possible to consider that in these first years the institution was constituted like a sort of colectivity theatre –cause the activities were developed entirely in Yiddish and were oriented to a purely Jewish audience- we maintain that as the years pass and the Independent Theater movement grows in magnitude and strength, an increasing desire for integration appeared, and the IFT gradually began to be included as a constituent part of a larger phenomenon. En este trabajo se aborda la relación entre el IFT (Idisher Folks Teater - Teatro Popular Judío), la primera y más importante expresión del Teatro Independiente en el campo teatral judío de Buenos Aires, y el movimiento de Teatro Independiente, surgido en 1930 con la creación del Teatro del Pueblo. Se parte de la idea, de que si bien es posible considerar que en estos primeros años la institución se constituyó como una suerte de teatro de colectividad -en tanto las actividades se desarrollaban completamente en ídish y estaban orientadas a un público netamente judío-, a medida que pasan los años y el movimiento de Teatro Independiente crece en magnitud y fuerza aparece un, cada vez más grande, deseo de integración por parte del IFT que, progresivamente, comienza a incluirse como parte constitutiva de un fenómeno mayor, que a la vez lo incluye y lo trasciende.
