From a critical stance, to address the phenomenon of the medicalization of death, contributing to a discussion against the instrumental sense and the bio-political nature inherent to technological projects in this field. Methodology. The methodology is based on a work of documentary type, in order to recover ideas and ideas that at present give an account of the meaning in which modern society means to death. Results. The contribution of elements of discussion and analysis around the socio-cultural, economic and political representation of death. Conclusions. Death is much more than the definitive cessation of vital signs, and forms part of a complex social structure where technological developments and forms of consumption shape their conception and experience in modern societies. El presente ensayo tiene como objetivo abordar, desde una postura crítica, el fenómeno de la medicalización de la muerte, contribuyendo a una discusión en contra del sentido instrumental y el carácter biopolítico, inherentes a los proyectos tecnológicos en este campo. La metodología se basa en un trabajo de tipo documental, con el fin de recuperar y discutir planteamientos e ideas que, en la actualidad, dan cuenta del sentido en que la sociedad moderna significa a la muerte. Resultados. El aportar elementos de discusión y análisis en torno a la representación sociocultural, económica y política de la muerte. Conclusiones. La muerte es mucho más que el cese definitivo de los signos vitales, y se inscribe en una compleja estructura social donde los desarrollos tecnológicos y las formas de consumo, modelan y perfilan su concepción y experiencia en las sociedades modernas. es modernas.
