This analytical review proposes to contest actual reductionist appreciations of its characterization and impact. The underlying goal is political. It is based on the premise that a more integral view of the origins and development of second wave feminism could offer elements of continuity and common ground between contemporary and previous feminisms. The methodology is centered on a bibliographical review, as well as the reflective analysis of my own experience in the second wave feminist movement in both countries. El presente artículo tiene el objetivo de revisitar analíticamente los orígenes y desarrollo del feminismo de la segunda ola en Estados Unidos y México, a partir de sus hallazgos ontológicos, epistemológicos, conceptuales, políticos y experienciales, con la intención de ofrecer una mirada situada y contextual que aporte a la construcción de puentes de mayor entendimiento entre los feminismos contemporáneos y antecesores. Dicho repaso analítico pretende desentrañar apreciaciones actuales reduccionistas de su caracterización e impacto. Su meta es política y gira en torno al rescate de una comprensión más integral de la segunda ola, basada en la premisa de continuidad entre feminismos. La metodología empleada es de revisión bibliográfica, complementado con la reflexión analítica desde la propia experiencia como participante en dicho movimiento en ambos países.
