Riassunto:This paper offers the results of a study of gender relations in adolescence. The main aim is to determine students’ propensity to establish relationships with peers based on the nature of the activity, and analyze the influence of social expectations of gender in their choices. An ad hoc scale was designed and used to measure relationship preferences. The study sample was made up of 722 secondary education students aged between 12 and 17. The results show that boys are favored to play videogames and in sports activities, and girls are preferred to share secrets and swap clothes. The study also observes a tendency towards reciprocal choices between students of the same sex in school and extracurricular activities. The results obtained coincide with research in different contexts, which shows the impact of gender stereotypes on peer relationships in adolescence.
