Opis
Streszczenie:Digital competence is an important ability in professional development in social education. This research seeks to gather information on students’ self-assessment of digital competence in the bachelor’s degree in social education at the School of Education of the University of Salamanca (Spain). The methodology followed was quantitative, non-experimental and descriptive, and electronic surveys were used to collect data. One noteworthy result is the fact that students assess their own attitude toward Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in a very positive light, their ICT use more moderately, and their knowledge of ICT as poor. The study shows that students do not have a level of digital competence commensurate with their status as “digital residents” (generations born after the 1980s), or adequate capabilities to use ICT in their academic and future professional lives.
