The database analyzed was taken from the PROFLEX survey, conducted in nine institutions in Mexico – six public state universities and three private elite universities. The results show that graduates from private higher education institutions appear to enjoy better working conditions in terms of salary, job stability, and positions held. However, their labor market integration is slower compared to their counterparts from public schools. En este artículo se presenta una perspectiva para estudiar a los egresados universitarios, centrándose en el estudio de las condiciones laborales y su relación con el tipo de institución: pública y privada. El estudio analiza las diferencias en la inserción laboral de los egresados a partir de la universidad donde estudiaron, tomando como indicadores: el ritmo de incorporación, el grado de coincidencia entre la formación académica y su empleo, así como las condiciones laborales. Se analizó la base de datos obtenida a partir de la encuesta PROFLEX, realizada en nueve instituciones de México: seis públicas estatales y tres privadas de élite. Los resultados muestran que los egresados de Instituciones de Educación Superior privadas en apariencia tienen mejores condiciones laborales en términos de salario, estabilidad laboral y puestos desempeñados. Sin embargo, no tienen una rápida inserción laboral en comparación con sus colegas egresados de escuelas públicas.
