The results reveal that subjects develop a disposition and the skills to seek changes in social reality based on values such as altruism. El propósito de este artículo es describir y comprender las motivaciones de profesores-investigadores de dos universidades públicas estatales en México para participar en procesos de transferencia de conocimiento y tecnología. Para este estudio fueron consideradas diez personas interesadas en procesos de transferencia de conocimientos; se hicieron entrevistas a profundidad para conocer la intencionalidad que tiene cada uno para producir y transferir conocimiento. Los resultados revelan que los sujetos desarrollan habilidades y formas de ser que buscan cambios en la realidad social a partir de valores como el altruismo.
