This article presents the main trends established to guide this type of research and some of the theoretical and methodological elements found in its structure. Los estudios sobre trayectoria presentan una opción metodológica que permite profundizar en los recorridos laborales que desarrollan los individuos en el mercado de trabajo. Sin embargo, al iniciar un estudio de este tipo se observa que existe una gran diversidad de enfoques, disciplinas de abordaje, objetos y finalidades de estudio que dificultan su comprensión.  En este artículo se presentan las principales tendencias que orientan este tipo de estudios y algunos de los elementos teóricos y metodológicos, encontrados en su construcción.
