Sumari:What is the possible role played by academic literacy skills in the consolidation of educational reforms in Mexico? This article analyzes the case of a continuous professional development online course aimed to develop skills for preventing and reducing school violence. These skills were collaboratively developed through the production of academic texts in a virtual platform. A sample of essays and IMRD reports authored by twenty-six participants were analyzed, and ten participants were interviewed in depth about the texts and their experience in this course. La escritura académica en la formación en línea de docentes de una escuela pública mexicana Sergio Reyes-Angona y Juan Manuel Fernández-Cárdenas Revista Electrónica de Investigación Educativa, Vol. 17, Núm. 2 / IIDE-UABC 2 Although the texts reveal teachers possess underdeveloped skills needed to fully participate in academic communities, the interviews reveal a great potential for dialogue within their own professional communities in order to produce change in their schools.
