Description
Summary:This article presents an overview on the current state of the Reading Rooms in Mexico. It comes from a diagnosis made by the Centre for Cultural Research–Museum of the Autonomous University of Baja California, during the year 2009, at the request of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta). The primary objective was to develop an exercise for the identification, characterization and analysis of certain constituent aspects of the Reading Rooms in the country, in order to establish more effective cultural development strategies and plans. That is, who are the promoters of reading in Mexico, where are located, what are conditions engaged in their work and what are their experiences in this area. The text focuses on the problem of the mediators of rooms, users, and the contexts in which these actors operate.
