This paperwork describes some characteristics of the identity of teachers of middle education in the process through which they acquire their condition of teachers, the reconstruction of the professional trajectories of four teachers was made through biographical data. The central features considered were the existence of a personal nucleus involved in the conformation of the professional, the temporal and relational process of conformation of the identity, the unique characteristics of their identity: knowledge of a discipline, capacity to transmit it, commitment with the tasks, the knowledge and the people, and the demands towards themselves and others. El presente trabajo describe algunas características de la identidad del docente de enseñanza media en el proceso por medio del cual adquiere la condición de profesor, a partir de la reconstrucción de las trayectorias profesionales de cuatro docentes, a través de la narrativa biográfica. Los rasgos centrales considerados son la existencia de un núcleo personal involucrado en la conformación del profesional, el proceso temporal y relacional de conformación de la identidad y las características propias de su identidad: el conocimiento sobre la disciplina, su capacidad para transmitirlo, el compromiso con las tareas, los saberes y las personas, y la exigencia hacia ellos mismos y hacia los otros.
