Latent variables were determined that explain the nature of the sources of argumentation necessary for ensuring an adequate level of competence on the part of the experts. Se reporta una investigación sobre el perfeccionamiento de un instrumento empírico para la selección de expertos en las investigaciones educativas, de acuerdo a su fiabilidad y consistencia interna. Para ello se aplica el método Delphi a tres rondas y los resultados se someten al análisis factorial. Se determinan variables latentes que explican la naturaleza de las fuentes de argumentación necesarias para lograr un adecuado nivel de competencia de los expertos.
