Metric properties of an instrument to assess the Subjective Social Value of Education: SECS-EVALNEC SVE-Subjective-Secondary-Students scale

The study analyzes the results of the application of an instrument that aims to measure the Subjective Social Value of Education. Working with a group of 341 students of Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain, we expose the metric properties of the instrument from a TCT and TRI methodology to check...

The study analyzes the results of the application of an instrument that aims to measure the Subjective Social Value of Education. Working with a group of 341 students of Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain, we expose the metric properties of the instrument from a TCT and TRI methodology to check its reliability and goodness of fit. After checking the dimensionality of the scale and the item analysis, the data show that fit properly to the reference model. From this, we present a proposal of one-dimensional scale SECS-EVALNEC VSE-Students-Secondary conformed by 20 items with an overall reliability of .73. The results of the study demonstrate acceptable levels in both perspectives, providing a first indication as evidence of validation of the evaluation instrument.
