description The aim of this study is to identify variables that influence grade repetition in compulsory education in Spain, according to the scientific literature. A systematic review was carried out in the Web of Science, Scopus, and Dialnet databases, and content analysis was employed to identify 67 variables that were incorporated into a model structured into six factors that fell into two groups: non-academic (individual and family) and academic (student, classmates, teachers, and school). The study concludes that a diagnosis of these variables may help to design measures (for prevention and intervention) adapted to the needs of each student. Furthermore, the considerable weight carried by family variables, both in the student and in the school context, reinforces the need to seek synergies between education and social policy to support the most disadvantaged families.

El objetivo de este estudio es identificar las variables que influyen en la repetición de curso en Educación Obligatoria en España según la literatura científica. Se realizó una revisión sistemática en las bases de datos Web of Science, Scopus y Dialnet, y mediante análisis de contenido se identificaron 67 variables que fueron incorporadas a un modelo estructurado en seis factores correspondientes a dos grupos: no académicos (individuales y familiares) y académicos (estudiante, compañeros de clase, profesorado y centro educativo). Se concluye que el diagnóstico de estas variables puede contribuir al diseño de medidas de actuación (prevención e intervención) ajustadas a las necesidades de cada estudiante. Además, el elevado peso de las variables familiares, tanto en el estudiante como en el contexto del centro educativo, refuerza la necesidad de buscar sinergias entre la política educativa y la social para apoyar a las familias más desfavorecidas.   O objetivo deste estudo é identificar as variáveis ​​que influenciam a repetição de curso de Ensino Obrigatório na Espanha de acordo com a literatura científica. Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática nas bases de dados Web of Science, Scopus e Dialnet, e por meio da análise de conteúdo foram identificadas 67 variáveis ​​que foram incorporadas a um modelo estruturado em seis fatores correspondentes a dois grupos: não acadêmico (individuais e familiares) e acadêmicos (estudantes, companheiros, professores e centro educacional). Conclui-se que o diagnóstico destas variáveis ​​pode contribuir para o desenho de medidas de ação (prevenção e intervenção) ajustadas às necessidades de cada aluno. Além disso, o elevado peso das variáveis ​​familiares, tanto no estudante como no contexto do centro educacional, reforça a necessidade de procurar sinergias entre a política educativa e social para apoiar às famílias mais desfavorecidas.
