In particular, it posits mentoring, integrated into a broader training proposal, as a strategy for new faculty training; consequently, the mentor training program as well as the theoretical bases for its operation in the case of the University of Valencia, is presented. In addition, we include a report on the program’s evaluation plan, the aim of which is to provide quality information for the improvement of the program. Finally, we provide the results of two editions of said evaluation as evidence of the quality and dynamics of the reflection and the continuous improvement of the mentoring program. Este artículo presenta la experiencia de la Universitat de Valencia (UV) en la formación del profesorado novel desde el año 2000, comenzando con el Curso de Iniciación a la Docencia Universitaria (CIDU) y siguiendo con el actual Diploma en Investigació, Gestió i Ensenyament Universitari (DIGEU). Concretamente, plantea la mentorización como estrategia de formación del profesorado novel, integrada en una propuesta formativa más amplia, por lo que se presenta el Programa de formación de los mentores y las bases teóricas de su funcionamiento en el caso concreto de la Universitat de València. Además, se informa del plan de evaluación de dicho programa, cuya finalidad es aportar información de calidad para su mejora.
