Gaia: | This descriptive and cross-sectional study, conducted on a sample of 490 university students, seeks to analyze the relationships between academic factors such as academic achievement and holding a scholarship, and the perceived motivational climate in sport. The main instruments used were the PMCSQ-2 questionnaire and a self-registration sheet. The results showed that holding a scholarship and students’ access route to university were not related to the motivational climate in sport. It was however observed that students enrolled in privately-run state-funded schools (centros concertados) or private schools strived hardest to improve in sports and sought recognition. Furthermore, it was found that participants with higher grades prefer to play a leading role in sports. |
