This was accomplished by interviewing the twenty best teachers as evaluated by students in 2007. Their general conceptions about teaching, students, education and particularly their stand with respect to teaching evaluation, reflected in experiences, recommendations and proposals were obtained. Their individual characteristics and their perspectives about classroom dynamics were also retrieved in data analysis. Guidelines to design the proposal of an innovative evaluation that allows for analysis, reflection and feedback intended at the improvement of their teaching is drawn from the interviews, as a partial result. El presente artículo, presenta la primera etapa de un estudio que tiene como objetivo diseñar un modelo de evaluación docente para el posgrado y que corresponde a una aproximación al pensamiento de los profesores, dentro del marco de una investigación cuya finalidad es diseñar un modelo integral de evaluación de la práctica docente, para el posgrado de una institución determinada. Esto se hizo a través de entrevistas a veinte profesores, de los mejor evaluados por los estudiantes en 2007. Con ello se obtuvieron sus concepciones sobre la docencia, el estudiante, la educación y particularmente, su postura ante la evaluación de la docencia reflejada en vivencias, recomendaciones y propuestas. En la sistematización de la información, se recuperan sus características como docentes de posgrado y su visión de lo que sucede en las aulas. El cierre, aunque parcial, presenta los lineamentos que se desprenden de las entrevistas para conformar una propuesta de una evaluación diferente que permita el análisis, la reflexión y la retroalimentación con miras a mejorar la calidad de su práctica docente.
