This study aimed to gain deeper insight into the social representation of school success among high school students from Sinaloa, employing a structural approach to understand how this hegemonic rationale and its social insertions influence the representation of school success. The results show that these young people associate success with the archetypical successful, responsible student that makes an effort and shows interest. At the same time, they view learning from a practical standpoint, in which knowing how to use what has been learned is most important, rather than simply the grades earned. Also highlighted is the importance of the process and guidelines that enable students to stay in and complete high school. School success thus enables a better future. La problemática del éxito escolar preocupa tanto a nivel político como social. No obstante, a menudo se entiende desde una lógica hegemónica reduccionista en la que priman las calificaciones. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo ahondar en la representación social que jóvenes sinaloenses de bachillerato tienen sobre el éxito escolar. Desde una aproximación estructural se pretende conocer cómo influyen en la representación del éxito escolar de los jóvenes tanto dicha lógica hegemónica como sus inserciones sociales. Los resultados muestran que los jóvenes relacionan el éxito con un arquetipo de estudiante exitoso, responsable y que se esfuerza mostrando interés. A su vez, entienden el aprendizaje desde una dimensión práctica donde lo fundamental es saber usar lo aprendido, más allá de las calificaciones obtenidas. Asimismo, se destaca la importancia del proceso y las pautas que permiten la permanencia y conclusión del bachillerato. El éxito escolar posibilita así un mejor futuro.
