A descriptive approach was followed based on a closed-ended questionnaire relating to historical consciousness, with item responses measured on a Likert scale. The results support the idea that the interest shown by students in the formal content proposed is an indicator that calls for a critical review of the structure and organization of history curricula in the two contexts studied. Se presentan los resultados de un estudio comparativo orientado a identificar las concepciones sobre la importancia de cuatro tipos de contenidos formales de enseñanza de la historia (períodos históricos, temas transversales de la historia, historia de lugares y procesos históricos nacionales) de un grupo de estudiantes colombianos (N = 764) y españoles (N = 648) que cursaban el último grado de educación obligatoria en las ciudades de Bogotá y Murcia, respectivamente. Para ello, se empleó un método descriptivo sustentado en la aplicación de un cuestionario cerrado fundamentado en la categoría conciencia histórica, cuyos ítems debían ser valorados por medio de una escala Likert. Los resultados obtenidos permiten afirmar que el interés manifestado por los estudiantes en los contenidos formales propuestos es un indicador que sugiere una revisión crítica de la estructura y el sentido de organización curricular de la enseñanza de la historia en los dos contextos analizados.   Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.
